PERSONAL HISTORY
Casey Averett got involved in auto body when he was 16 years old when he was hired by Carl Murdock as a prep boy. after a couple of months working with Carl, Casey was hired by rebuildable auto in Lehi Utah where he worked as a prepper for their head painter, Kevin Alvey. After 6 months working with Kevin, Casey was offered a job by Mark Larsen of Marks Auto body. Casey learned a great deal about auto body and auto restoring at Marks. After a year with Mark he decided to move on and was offered a bodyman position working for Kendall Glines underneath the old Steve Clifford Porche building in provo where he only worked for a couple of months until he was offered yet another job my Mac Whitelock in Payson restoring 356 Porche speedsters. At this time Casey was 18 and graduating high school when he left Mac Whitelocks. He took the summer off and decided to go to Utah county community college and study machine tools to become a machinist. After a year of schooling Casey landed a job as a machinist for Mac Industries in Murray Utah. Working the night shift at Mac Industries was hard for Casey for he was still attending part time school. That is why after 6 months as a machinist he decided to quit and finish his schooling. Casey went back into auto body working for Ken Murdock at AF Collision Repair in American Fork Utah. Unfortunately he did not go back to school and finish his general education credits to receive an associates degree. Instead he decided to hone his skills as a body and paint man for AF Collision for the next 4 years. Casey is an I-CAR certified technician and a certified DIAMONT refinish technician. Casey is currently working as a professional driver for a local construction company. He works at his house on cars, trucks, motorcycles or anything with an engine that can be modified.
PERFORMANCE HISTORYCasey began his quest for horsepower when he was 15 years old with the purchase of a 1969 Chevrolet chevelle. From that time it has been an uphill battle of learning about how the components of a car can be upgraded or altered to achieve a desired effect. Casey street raced his chevelle for several years until 1994 when he decided to park the car realizing that it needed a full restoration. At about that same time Casey acquired a 1969 el camino that he began to upgrade with some of the parts from the chevelle. Before long the el camino was supercharged with a 144 B&M blower. This is where Casey realized he had a fascination with forced induction. He had ran nitrous oxide injection on his chevelle, but never had the opportunity to run BOOST. From that time on he was what you would call a BOOST junkie. He read and studied every published piece of work he could find about BOOST and the effects that it had on other systems in the vehicle. Realizing the great potential of turbocharging(along with the complexity of it) he mainly focused his studies towards it. After building a few cars and his custom GSXR 1100 he finally got the chance to build his first turbocharged vehicle in 2002. The details of the 1980 GMC stepside pickup that he turbocharged can be found here-TOWCUTTER
